The Franklin County Lions will kickoff their Region 8AAA schedule tonight at 7:30 p.m. against the Jefferson Dragons in Jefferson's Memorial Stadium.

The Lions, 0-4 in non-region games this season, will face a tough task against No. 10-ranked Jefferson, a team that is 3-1 overall and defeated East Jackson 70-6 last week in its region opener.

In last week's game, Jefferson led 35-0 with 4:54 left in the first quarter of the game.

The Dragons are led by quarterback Colby Clark and running back Malaki Starks.

Clark returns to the quarterback slot this year after missing five games due to an injury suffered against Franklin County last year in Carnesville.

Following the injury in last year's game, the Lions played the Dragons close. Jefferson had to score with 14 seconds left in the game to come away with a 17-10 lead.

Tonight's game at Jefferson is the first of a pair of road games for the Lions as they begin region play.

Franklin will be back on the road next week to travel to Morgan County.

The rest of the 8AAA schedule for the Lions include a home game Oct. 18 against East Jackson for homecoming, a game at Jackson County Oct. 25 and then back-to-back home games to finish the year, Nov. 1 against Hart County and Nov. 8 against Monroe Area.
