Franklin to host Stephens for key games

The Franklin County Lion and Lady Lion soccer teams led by Max Bridges and Claire Halder will host Stephens County Tuesday in key games in the race for the playoffs in Region 8AAA. The girls’ game will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Ed Bryant Stadium, with the boys’ game to follow at 7:30 p.m. On the boys’ side, Franklin and Stephens are each 0-2 in region play, but just one game out of fourth place in the standings. The Lions fell 9-0 to Oconee County Tuesday in Carnesville. Oconee leads the region and is ranked in the top five in the state. After falling 10-2 to Oconee County Tuesday, the Lady Lions are also 0-2 in region play but just one game behind 1-1 Stephens County for fourth place. Franklin got two goals from Halder in the game against Oconee. Coach Kevin Compton also lauded the play of Journey Roberts in goal.
