From staff reports
A candidate forum for those running for mayor and city council in Franklin Springs will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
Franklin Springs mayoral candidates incumbent Lee Moore, Josh Griffeth and Bruce Scranton have been invited to the Franklin Springs, as have council candidate incumbents Tom Wilson and Josh Walden and challengers Bryan Matheson and Joanna Matheson.
Candidate at the forum will be given up to three minutes for opening statements and two minutes for closing statements.
In between, questions submitted by citizens will be asked. Candidates will be given one minute to answer each question.
Citizens may submit questions for the candidates by emailing fcc@franklincountycitizen.com or dropping them by the Citizen Leader office at 12150 Augusta Road in Lavonia.
Questions on the same issue may be consolidated by the newspaper staff.
Personal or gotcha questions will not be allowed. Citizens are asked to stick to questions on issues that can be asked and answered by each candidate.
The staff of the Citizen Leader will also generate questions, but citizens’ questions will be given priority.
All questions must be submitted before the specific forum for which they are being asked.
No questions may be submitted at the forums.
Another forum for Royston races will be held Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Depot in downtown Royston.
Post 1 candidates Wesley Fricks and Bob Adamson have been invited, as has mayoral candidate Jason Phillips.
If more than one candidate qualifies for the Post 2 seat vacated by Phillips after qualifying Sept. 15-17, those candidates will be invited as well.
