Special to the Citizen Leader

March 8 was the 23rd annual Woman Of Distinction Award, which was respectfully presented to a charitable woman, Mary Hart Wilheit.

I had the honor to be the Mistress Of Ceremonies.

I am a proud sixth grader at Franklin County Middle School, making this my sixth year of Girl Scouts.

My experience was quite unique.

After missing a day of school, it was most definitely worth it. I got to meet very important people, who have made a lifelong-impact on people like myself.

I had three months to prepare my speech, which I gladly presented, talking about my experiences in Girl Scouts.

That day I stood up at the mic, with my palms sweaty, but I soon got comfortable speaking in front of all those people.

I was told that there would be an estimated 300 people in the room, but upon arriving it sure seemed like a lot more!

I was sweetly supported by my mom and dad, and by everyone there.

Mary Hart Wilheit was the recipient of the award.

She spent her life donating her time and resources to all sorts of charities in Northeast Georgia.

Former First Lady Sandra Deal gave a heartfelt and funny speech about her good friend, Mary Hart Wilheit.

I was so very grateful to have the opportunity to meet former Gov. Nathan Deal. He was very nice and supportive of my effort.

I am very fortunate and thankful to be the proud 2022 Mistress of Ceremonies.

I thanked everyone there for their support, and their appreciation for Mary Hart Wilheit.
