Schools to welcome parents, students as first day approaches

With the 2026-27 school year one week away, Franklin County Schools will hold open houses Tuesday.
Open houses will be held Tuesday at Franklin County High School from 1-5 p.m.; Franklin County Middle School from 2-6 p.m.; and Lavonia Elementary School, Carnesville Elementary School and South Franklin Elementary School from 3-6 p.m.
Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers and see classrooms, as well as get information on school activities, bus routes and lunches.
Teachers and staff members will report Monday for three days of pre-planning before the first day of school July 30.
Convocation will kick off the new school year Monday morning in the Telford Center for the Fine and Performing Arts at FCHS.
