From staff reports
LAVONIA – Lavonia Elementary School will have a new traffic pattern when students return to school Jan. 4.
Car-riders will pick-up and drop-off in the back of the school.
They will now be required to enter the car rider line via Hartwell Road, to Misty Mills Road, then to Brickyard Road and finally to the access road that runs behind the school.
Drop-off and release times have also slightly changed.
At 7:25 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., vehicles will be able to begin the unloading and loading process behind the school at the new designated location.
No vehicles will be allowed to use the front entrance from 3:10 p.m. till 3:25 p.m.
Buses will now pick-up and drop-off students in the front of the school.
Late arrivals, early check-outs and visitors, parents or guardians will still be required to use the front of the school for the front office.
BARK and BOUNCE procedures will also remain the same at the front of the school.
Parents were informed about the changes digitally through Messenger and the school website.
Paper copies of the new plan were sent home in the student’s folders Monday.
Maps were included showing green arrows for entering the school’s car-rider line and blue arrows for exiting the school’s car-rider line.
Signs were put up at the car rider line through the end of the year.
These signs will have QR codes that parents can scan to receive this information prior to the break.
