Charities seek donations to deal with loss of federal SNAP benefits
Due to the continuing federal government shutdown, about 4,000 Franklin County residents and about 1,900 households who depend on their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds for food purchases could face a loss of those benefits starting Nov. 1. Nearly 20 local food pantries and ministries in and around Franklin County are working to stock up on extra supplies to help fill the gap.
