ROYSTON – The City of Royston will celebrate Georgia Cities Week April 24-30.
The city will hold a variety of events throughout the week, including a community planning session and a Fun Day at the Royston Wellness and Community Park.
The theme of this year's Georgia Cities Week is “Shaping the Future.”
“We’re very proud of our city and the services we provide that make it attractive to residents and visitors,” said Mayor Keith Turman. “Cities provide the services and infrastructure to help businesses grow and set the stage for events where families and individuals can gather as a community.”
Events planned for the week are:
• Daily Scavenger Hunt.
Clues will be posted each morning, Monday through Friday, on the “Royston Georgia” Facebook page.
The first person to post a selfie at the correct location will win a prize.
• Community Planning/Public Input Session.
The community plannign session will be held April 26 from 7-9 p.m. at the Royston Depot.
Those attending will be eligible for a prize drawing.
Turman encouraged merchants and citizens alike to attend the meeting to tell city leaders what they want to see in the city.
“I would encourage everyone to come out and be part of it,” he said.
• Community Fun Day.
The Fun Day will be held April 30 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Royston Wellness and Community Park.
Activities will include a Touch-a-Truck with city vehicles, a chance to meet city staff members, a children's inflatable slide and train rides, a coloring contest, balloons and give-aways.
A hot dog lunch will be provided and served by the mayor and city council.
