CARNESVILLE – The annual Memorial Day ceremony was held Monday at the Memorial Plaza at Franklin County Courthouse.
The event included organizer Dusty Morgan reading of the names of members of the armed services from Franklin County who were killed in U.S. wars. The names of Franklin County emergency services members killed while on duty were also read. Nick Johnson rang a bell after each name was called.
The Rev. Jerome Hill led the crowd gathered for the ceremony in prayer. Kori Esco sang the National Anthem and Marlie Scoggins played Taps after a wreath was laid. Willow and Shiloh Morgan and Kolby Kate Freeman led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members of the Patriot Guard raised the U.S. Flag and the flags of each armed services branch, and Sheriff Stevie Thomas raised the Public Services flag.
