Egg hunts set for Saturday

Easter’s on its way, so cities are hosting events for families to meet the Easter bunny and enjoy egg hunts.

Canon, Lavonia and Royston have all planned their events for April 16.

• Royston.

Royston’s egg hunt will be at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW Post 4828 on Franklin Springs Street.

The Easter bunny is scheduled to arrive at 10:15 a.m., and families will have the opportunity to get photos with him.

The egg hunt will include an area sectioned off just for those 3 years and younger for safety.

The event is sponsored by the Royston Downtown Development Authority and VFW Post 4828.

• Canon.

Canon’s egg hunt will be at the ball field at 2 p.m.

Children are asked to bring a basket to be filled with candy, eggs and prizes.

Families may also take photos with the Easter bunny.

The event is sponsored by the Canon Downtown Development Authority.

• Lavonia.

Lavonia will have an egg hunt at Lavonia City Park also at 2 p.m.

The event, which runs until 4 p.m., will also include a bounce house, a visit with the Easter bunny and Mr. Twister making balloon art.

The event is sponsored by the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority and Chick-Fil-A.

Church events

Lavonia Presbyterian Church – Holy Week Services. Maundy Thursday Communion Service will be held April 14 at 7 p.m. Good Friday Service, including the Seven Last Words, will be April 15 at noon. The Community Easter Sunday Sunrise Service will be held April 17 at 7 a.m. at the Lavonia Gazebo. Easter Sunday Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church on Vickery Street.

Royston First United Methodist Church – Sunrise Service at 6:45 a.m. at Royston Wellness and Community Park. Easter services will follow at 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. at the church at 137 Franklin Springs St. in Royston.

New Bethel Baptist Church – Easter Services April 17. A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. on Hill by the crosses. Pennington Chapel UMC – Easter Sunrise Service April 17 at 7 a.m. at the church at 2712 Sandy Cross Road in Royston. Easter Service will follow at 11 a.m.

Bowersville Baptist Church – Sunrise Service April 17 at 7:30 a.m. at the church at 980 West Main St. in Bowersville. Regular Easter services will follow from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church – Easter Sunday service April 17 at 10:30 a.m. Maundy Thursday liturgy including communion will be held April 14 at 6 p.m. Good Friday liturgy will be held April 15 at 6 p.m. The church is at 579 Fairview Avenue in Hartwell.
