The Franklin County Citizen Leader won seven awards in the annual Georgia Press Association’s 2022 Better Newspaper Contest.
The winners were announced Friday at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel during the group's 135th annual convention.
The Citizen Leader placed in a variety of categories.
Publisher Shane Scoggins won first and second place in the sports feature photo category.
The paper also won awards for editorial page (third place), enterprise story (second place), headline writing (second place), editorial writing (third place) and sports coverage story (third place).
Entries were judged in seven divisions based on circulation by members of the Louisiana Press Association.
“It’s always an honor to win awards and be recognized by our peers for our work covering Franklin County,” Scoggins said.
