The Christmas season will officially kick off in Franklin County this weekend.
Several cities plan Christmas events within the next week.
• Royston.
Royston will hold two events, one on Saturday and one on Monday.
Royston will hold a Holiday Market Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the historic Train Depot on Railroad Street in Royston.
Handcrafted items will be available for sale, and the city encourages shoppers to visit retailers in town to take part in Small Business Saturday.
On Nov. 28, the city will hold Christmas in Royston from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Royston.
The city will light its Christmas tree at 7 p.m.
Around the tree lighting ceremony, Santa will be on hand and mini-train rides and carriage rides will be available.
A Royston Holiday Market will be held at the historic Train Depot on Railroad Street in Royston. Local shops and restaurants will be open for late night dining and shopping.
• Canon.
Canon will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. in Canon City Park.
The event will include a Christmas message, singing, lighting of the city Christmas tree and refreshments in the Parke House.
• Lavonia.
Lavonia will hold its Candy Land Christmas tree lighting at the Gazebo Nov. 29 from 5-7 p.m. in downtown Lavonia.
Along with the tree lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand, there will be Christmas music, a giant Candy Land jump house, roasted marshmallows and free candy and cookies.

• Carnesville.
Carnesville will sponsor Christmas in the Park Dec. 1 beginning at 6 p.m. in the City Park.
The event will include lighting of the city Christmas tree, a Santa’s workshop, bonfire, Christmas music, a Christmas message and pictures with Santa.
Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. in the Carnesville Community Center.
• Franklin Springs.
Franklin Springs’ Christmas Tree Lighting will be held Dec. 1 beginning at 6 p.m. at Franklin Springs CityHall.
In addition to the lighting of the tree, there will be carriage rides, a s’mores station, caroling and a station for children to make Christmas decorations.
