Royston to get prices to build hospital monument

ROYSTON – Cobb Memorial Hospital may be gone, but the city of Royston is looking at an idea to make sure that it and the people that worked there are not forgotten.

The city is considering a new memorial for the hospital that will be located across the street from where it once stood.

Royston Mayor David Jordan said that the city saved several bronze plaques from the hospital building before it was demolished.

Two plaques were donated to the Ty Cobb Museum for their exhibit, but 10 more are in storage.

The mayor suggested that the city build a memorial to display the bronze plaques.

The new memorial would be constructed in the city’s Monument Park next to the Royston Public Library.

The new monument would be dedicated to all the people who dedicated their lives to serving Royston at the hospital, the mayor said.
