Restaurant, new Cobb Museum announced in new Royston development
ROYSTON – Plans were announced Tuesday for a new development on the site of the former Cobb Memorial Hospital that will include a restaurant and a new Ty Cobb Museum building.
The Cawthon family, owners of the site on Franklin Springs Street (U.S. Highway 29) in Royston, has announced plans for the new mixed-use development.
The Cawthons have been meeting with representatives from Community Services Group Inc. (CSG), which owns and operates the museum, to plan development of the site.
The project will include a baseball-themed restaurant, a new museum and a meeting room that the restaurant and museum will share.
Both the Cawthon family and CSG are working with an architectural firm to finalize the general site plan and building renderings.
The Cawthons have offered to donate the portion of the property to be occupied by the new museum and will own and operate the restaurant and meeting space.
A construction start date will be announced in the coming months.
