Republican gubernatorial candidate campaigns in Franklin Springs
FRANKLIN SPRINGS – The Republican candidate to be Georgia’s next governor brought his campaign to Franklin County Sept. 28.
Brian Kemp held a campaign event at the Swails Center on the campus of Emmanuel College.
“I’m ready. I’m ready to take us to the next level,” Kemp told a large crowd of supporters from Franklin, Elbert, Hart, Stephens and other area counties. “We do not need to go in another direction.”
Kemp, who currently serves as Georgia’s secretary of state, will face Democrat Stacey Abrams, the Georgia House minority leader from Atlanta.
The rally was Kemp’s second stop in Franklin County during his campaign. He held a meeting at Franklin Springs City Hall last year while running in the Republican primary.
Kemp, a native of Athens, is a childhood friend of Franklin County Board of Education member Eric Burrell.
