Tree lightings kick off Christmas season

Thanksgiving is Thursday.

After the turkey and leftovers are put away, the Christmas season will offically kick off in Franklin County.

That means it is time for Christmas tree lightings.

Canon, Lavonia, Carnesville and Franklin Springs will all hold tree lightings in the next week.

Canon will light its tree Sunday at 6 p.m. at Canon City Park.

The tree lighting will be hosted by Destiny Fellowship.

The event will include singing, fellowship, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus.

Lavonia will hold its Christmas tree lighting Monday at 6 p.m. at the Gazebo. 

The event will include entertainment and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.

Franklin Springs will hold its  seventh annual Christmas tree lighting Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. 

The event will include a visit from Santa Claus, horse drawn carriage rides, refreshments, a craft station, roasting marshmallows and Christmas caroling.

Carnesville will light its tree Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Carnesville City Park.
