Update: Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said Friday afternoon that Jesse Logan Waters had been arrested in Carnesville. He was spotted in the area of Little Caesar's Pizza, ran across four lanes of traffic on I-85 and was arrested on the southbound side of the interstate.
CARNESVILLE - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a suspect who stole a car in South Carolina.
On June 14, law enforcement from South Carolina chased stolen vehicle and the suspect who was driving it into Georgia.
The suspect, identified as Jesse Logan Waters, crashed the stolen truck on Highway 106 and Interstate 85 South.
He exited the vehicle and eluded officers by running into the woods on foot toward Carnesville, behind John Deere.
Around 3 a.m. on June 15, deputies entered the Wilco Truck Stop after 911 received a call stating a male fitting Waters description was in the store.
According to Sheriff Stevie Thomas, Waters exited the store and ran into the wooded area again.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 from the Department of Corrections, MCCD, Georgia State Patrol and GSP Aviation have been searching for Waters.
Waters is described as a white male wearing no shirt or a white T-shirt and dark colored shorts.
He is wanted for auto theft, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges. He is currently on parole.
He was last seen running north near Interstate 85 and in the Brown Road area.
Thomas is asking citizens to please remember to take their keys out of their vehicles since Waters has already stolen one vehicle.
