Qualifying opens Monday for county, school board seats

CARNESVILLE – Qualifying for two county commission seats and three board of education posts is about a week away.

The Post 3 commission seat currently held by Jeff Jacques and the Post 4 seat held by Eddie Wester are up for reelection this year.

On the school board, the Post 3 seat of Bo Lowery, the Post 4 seat of Alan Mitchell and the Post 5 seat of Robin Cato will be on the ballot.

Candidates may qualify as either Republicans or Democrats.

Qualifying will be held March 5-9 at the Franklin County Board of Elections office in Carnesville.

Qualifying will open beginning at 9 a.m. on March 5 and be open during regular office hours until noon on March 9.

Qualifying fees will be $216 for county commissioner races and $36 for school board seats.

The general primary will be held May 22, with the general election Nov. 6.
