Police seek tips on armed robbery

LAVONIA - The Lavonia Police Department is asking the public for any information they may have about an armed robbery that took place last week.

On Feb. 13 around 9:30 p.m., the Subway in Lavonia was robbed.

“There were two clerks on duty at the time,” said Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle. “One of the clerks left to run an errand and that’s when the suspect entered the restaurant.”

According to the police report, the suspect appeared to put what looked like a gun on the counter and demanded money.

The clerk gave the suspect the money in the register, which was approximately $800.

“The suspect fled the restaurant going in an unknown direction,” Carlisle said. “We believe he left in a vehicle that was parked nearby.”

The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a hoodie, black jacket and possibly a black baseball hat.

Anyone with any information about this robbery is asked to call the Lavonia Police Department at 706-356-4848.
