BOE works on ad for next school superintendent
CARNESVILLE – The search for the next Franklin County Schools superintendent will be in full swing soon.
Saturday morning, the Franklin County Board of Education met with Dr. Sam King, director of the superintendent search team with Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA), during the board’s annual retreat.
King walked the board through the search process, and provided a draft advertisement for the board to review and make changes to.
“We establish the criteria for the position and then GSBA puts the applications into tiers to make it easier for us to navigate,” Franklin County School Board Chairman Robin Cato said.
Some of the criteria for the next superintendent discussed by the board during the retreat were:
• promotes a visionary agenda;
• possess strong instructional foundation and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of current reasearch-based practices
• collaborates and communicates effectively with individuals and groups, demonstrating value for diverse opinions and experiences, including those resistant to change;
• evidence of a high level of effectiveness in the following personal qualities: judgement, values, conflict management, organizational ability, fit for the position/community and emotional intelligence.
