CARNESVILLE – Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Georgia recently honored Franklin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Max and his handler, Deputy Drew McAdams.

MADD recognized law enforcement personnel from across the Georgia Traffic Enforcement Networks during the inaugural MADD Quad Awards.

On Sept. 29, MADD presented McAdams, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Max with the MADD Quad Award for 2022.

MADD recognized McAdams and Max for their dedication to the organization’s missions to end drunk driving, fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.

McAdams has been a certified K-9 handler since 2018 with his partner Max.

McAdams and Max were nominated by Lt. Mike Sales for obtaining 42 driving under the influence (DUI) arrests, 10 call out requests for open air vehicle sniffs resulting in eight positive alerts, the seizure of three pounds of methamphetamine and 15 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $89,900, participation in two track call out deployments resulting in the apprehension of two suspects and K-9 demonstrations in all Franklin County elementary schools during 2021.

"Deputy McAdams and K-9 Max create a positive encounter throughout the community with the public," Franklin County Sheriff Stevie Thomas said. "Deputy McAdams and K-9 Max are both great ambassadors for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and for the MADD mission."
