LAVONIA – “A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol” will return to the stage at the Lavonia Cultural Center Nov. 18-20.

The performance will be a reprisal of the same show, which was originally performed by Franklin Community Players (FCP) seven years ago.

“A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol” was the first play Amy Burns ever directed for FCP and she returns to direct the 2022 edition.

The show tells the story of the Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” but uses well-known fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters in the place of Dickens’ characters.

The Big Bad Wolf is in the Ebenezer Scrooge role, with the ghosts visiting Scrooge including Midas, Old King Cole and the Queen of Hearts.

The play is narrated by Mother Goose, with Cinderella and Prince Charming as the Cratchetts and the Little Match Girl Tabitha in the Tiny Tim role.

In all, there is a 40-person cast.

The play includes three original cast members in Alisha Bailey, Victoria Burns and Rick Duerr.

But only Duerr returns in his role as Midas from the first performance seven years ago.

The play is suitable for all ages from young children to adults, the director said.

Performances will be Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.franklincommunityplayers.com.

The $15 price includes the tickets and all fees charged by FCP’s new online ticketing system, Burns said.
